Tiffany Inspired
These two border designs (3" and 9" high) and four
columns are part of a bathroom installation that was
inspired by the work of Louis Comfort Tiffany. Shown is
1) the front side of two lengths of 9" border and 2) two
3" border lengths. The borders are made on a clear film ,
similar to contact paper, which holds the tiles in place
prior to installation. The tiles are adhered to the film
upside down , using the drawn design as a guide. When
they are ready to be installed, adhesive will be put on
the wall surface, and the lengths of tile pressed into
(the wet adhesive) -- the film layer on the outside
surface will be pulled away when the tile is set.
Photographs 3 & 4 show the collar mosaic from sketch
through completion for the four bath columns. Photographs
5 & 6 show one of the columns, tiled prior to
grouting . The last photo is of the four completely tiled
columns.
